About Cara's Cookies

Hi! My name is Cara

I started Cara's Cookies to provide a decadent, soft-baked selection of cookies from a trustworthy, small-batch kitchen. My values are reflected in all aspects of my brand: I strive towards environmental sustainability, I minimize prices based on ingredient costs, I study and practice diligent food safety, I provide vegan options, and I am constantly researching new ways to improve. This journey began in November, 2023, and is still in its early stages, however I plan to remain transparent about my business practices and suppliers. If you have any specific questions not answered on this page, feel free to reach out

Suppliers

Packaging

As of March 2024, I am still testing various sources of packaging including compostable cellophane bags, compostable and recyclable takeout containers, compostable and recyclable shipping boxes, tape and filler, and recyclable pie tins. One brand I am using is EcoEnclose. I am also making my own recycled paper filler and ribbon, and re-using shipping boxes when possible.

Ingredients

While most my ingredients are currently sourced from my local grocery store, Market Basket, I am researching and testing ethical wholesalers. For specific ingredient brands, I look for fair-trade, environmentally conscious, reputable, low emissions, and worker owned companies such as Bob's Red Mill.

Business Practices

Low Waste Kitchen

One of my main priorities is to minimize waste in my kitchen. This includes practices such as re-using containers, buying wholesale with lower packaging, purchasing ingredients with compostable and recyclable packaging, purchasing reusable equipment, never wasting dough or food, home composting, re-using shipping boxes, and using shredded paper as shipping filler.

Supplier Vetting

Before buying anything wholesale, I am taking the steps to test and research brands, supplies, and ingredients to ensure they meet my values.

Made to Order

Although I prepare dough for product launches, I always bake cookies fresh when you place an order.
